Dr. Arun Ramappa is the Chief of Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College and cum laude graduate of Harvard Medical School and performed his surgical internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH).  He completed his orthopedic training at the Harvard Combined Orthopedics Residency Program (HCORP) where he was Chief Resident in Orthopedic Surgery at MGH.  He has completed multiple fellowships including a sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship at the world renowned Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado.  He is a Team Physician for the Boston Red Sox, Simmons College, Mt. Ida College, and a consultant for Northeastern University athletics.  He is a core member of HCORP and trains Harvard orthopedic residents and medical students.  His research focus includes shoulder pitching injuries, rotator cuff disorders, ACL tears, and meniscal tears. He has extensive research experience and has earned the prestigious Excellence in Research Award as well as the O’Donohue Sports Injury Research Award from the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
